Gamers should ready themselves to pack their bags for a downriver journey of survival and self-reliance. The Flame in the Flood is a rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten, post-societal America.
‘Brave the dangers of the water as you seek refuge from the harsh realities surrounding you, accompanied by your trusted companion, Aesop,’ writes developers Molasses Flood in the press release, ‘The ultimate wingman, your canine friend is as cunning as he is adorable, sniffing out and gathering the supplies essential to stay warm, stay fed, and stay alive.’
It promises everything gamers love; Foraging, crafting, outwitting predators and brave the rapids as they make your way down the procedurally generated river.
That last point is something been seen more and more in PC games with procedurally generated environments leading to better band for the processing buck. From what we’ve seen, The Flame in the Flood takes advantage of this with a stunning and detailed gaming world.
Gamers can get lost in the fragile beauty of a forgotten world designed by veterans of both BioShock and BioShock Infinite, playing to the tune of an original soundtrack composed by alt-country star, Chuck Ragan.
The Molasses Flood, the developer behind this title boasts ranks of veterans from Irrational, Harmonix, and Bungie who’ve contributed to massive critical and commercial successes such as the BioShock Series, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and the Halo series.
Not only is this their first title, but came here under its own backstory of looking to Kickstarter in October 2014 to fund the project.
