Fractured Space breaks half million users in early access

The team-based space combat game, Fractured Space has hit the milestone of over 500,000 users in early access on Steam.

Fractured Space is a free to play team-based space combat game fought in gigantic capital ships with the intensity of a shooter and the big-picture-thinking of a strategy game. Each multiplayer match offers intense team battles combining deadly individual fights with larger team strategy.

Originally launched on Steam Early Access in November 2014 to critical and commercial success, Fractured Space has attracted over 500,000 users as the game continuously evolves using an open development model where the community is encouraged to talk directly to the development team, highly influencing the ongoing development of the game.

“Coming off the back of an amazing free weekend on Steam, the arrival of Martin, Scott and Jorge represents a huge step forward in creating a winning team in preparation for the full launch of Fractured Space later this year” said Chris Mehers, COO of Edge Case Games

Using an open development model, where the community actively participate in the game development, Edge Case Games is now gearing up to full release with a strong drive to develop its publishing capability.

To help with this, former EA Dice and Atari industry veteran Martin Frain has joined as marketing director, along with new recruits in analytics with Scott Davis and monetization with Jorge Ezquerra.

“I’m delighted to join the team at Edge Case and help grow the player base for Fractured Space,” said Martin Frain. “The open-dev nature of the studio means we already have a great dialogue with our early-access players and they are helping us really hone and polish the game.”
