Dolph Lundgren Becomes Ambassador For World of Tanks

Quick, spot the connection - the holidays, Dolph Lundgren and PC games.

They are all connected through the latest update for World of Tanks. With Update 9.17 players will get to command two lines of Swedish tanks, the first rolls out a number of tank destroyers and the second boasts a mix of light, medium, and heavy firepower. Swedish tanks are the 9th Nation since Launch of World of Tanks, taking the total number of tanks up to 500 in the game.

World of Tanks is a team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare of the mid-20th century. Players can throw themselves into the epic tank battles of World War II with other steel cowboys all over the world. Arsenals include over 450 armored vehicles from the United States, Germany, the Soviet Union, France, Great Britain, Japan, China, Czechoslovakia carefully detailed with historical accuracy.

Where Dolph Lundgren comes into the equation, he will be the WoT Swedish tanks ambassador! The Swedish actor famous for his role in Rocky IV as the imposing Soviet boxer Ivan Drago will be a guest at #WGFest in Moscow on December 17th to celebrate the Swedish tech tree.

Swedish tank destroyers may start off somewhat conventional, but that all changes at higher tiers. The hallmarks of these vehicles are very low profiles, sometimes the best in class, that let them secure unusual, potentially game-winning positions. Throw in decent gun depression and firepower, and you have intimidating snipers on your hands.

However, starting at Tier VIII, with the famed UDES 03 and onto the Strv 103B, two new game modes hit the battlefield: Siege and Travel. Travel is for when you need to put the pedal to the metal, securing your position or making a quick getaway. Siege significantly reduces your speed, but ramps up your ability to dish out damage. Their fast-firing guns, great penetration, and accuracy can turn a battle on its head.

“The original design and unique gameplay of the new Swedish line was a treat to develop and unleash on the battlefield,” said Thaine Lyman, World of Tanks Product Director. “Sweden’s innovative technical solutions bring a lot to the game, and while Siege and Travel modes will take a little time getting used to, those that master them will be a formidable force in combat.”

The mixed Swedish branch brings a total of ten light, medium and heavy tanks. At the top of the tree, you’ll discover the mighty Tier X heavy tank Kranvagn, which is a mouthful to say but a joy to play. If you’re wracking your brain for a similar tank, the Kranvagn sits in between the AMX 50B and T57.

With over a dozen new vehicles to discover, Wargming promises the update keep players more than busy over the festive period.
