TASTEE: Lethal Tactics is a turn-based squad game comes from school of Frozen Synapse adding a hint of Team Fortress 2 for art direction. Released earlier in 2016, TASTEE: Lethal Tactics is currently rated ‘Very Positive’ on Steam enjoying 85% Positive on 100 community reviews.
Bringing together a few trends, this simultaneous turn-based tactics game has launched a tournament program for its diehard community. The first tournament, the TASTEE Royale, is already underway with 16 players competing in a single elimination bracket to take home the TASTEE Royale trophy, a 3D-printed trophy featuring the game’s iconic ‘pistol bull’ logo.
The 16 competitors hail from nine different countries including USA, Canada, Japan, Sweden, Germany, France, Spain, Czech Republic, and China. A video review and first tournament has already hit twitch and Youtube, with the latter including in this article for your convenience.
The heart of the battle is TASTEE: Lethal Tactics which features a diverse roster of 12 mercenaries, each with their own special abilities and weapons with each character having their own particular skill set, expertise ranging from clever gadgets to lethal combat abilities.
These become unlocked as players make their way through30 missions across 10 rich, detailed locations offering dramatic cat-and-mouse armed encounters. Featuring destructible environmental objects, gamers can destroy doors and cover objects to alter the playing field.
These come into play with the online version of the game which uses ELO-ratings based global leaderboards, Asynchronous Online Matches and Cage Matches where gamers play head to head matches live and must submit turns before the timer runs out.
It’s the last mode the TASTEE Royale is based on, a single-elimination, cage-match tournament. The developer of the title, SkyBox Labs takes care of matchmaking and coordinating times for matches.
Aside from honor and bragging rights, the prize pool includes TASTEE concept art prints, an exclusive T-shirt design, and a as mentioned above, the 3D-printed trophy. Prizes will be will be awarded to the top 4 players along with those given through a random drawing.
